A Marabella businessman says now is the time, with declining energy prices affecting the economy, for the business community to show confidence by investing in T&T.
Neil Mohammed, managing director of Fen Mohammed Stores Ltd, made the call at the opening of the furniture store’s refurbished Fen’s Furniture land outlet at the Marabella Roundabout on Saturday.
Mohammed, who was the PNM candidate for Pointe-a-Pierre in the September 7 general election, said business owners have a responsibility to breathe life into the economy.
“They need to breathe life into the sector and show their support to the government in these tough times,” he said.
Even though times are tough, we still have to eat, we still have to live and enjoy the fruits of our labour. Business people especially need to help stabilise the economy right now.”
Mohammed said this is the first upgraded for the store in 15 years. The reopening attracted hundreds of people who were treated to wine and finger foods and invited to browse the hundreds of items on display.
However, no sales were conducted on the day.
“We want customers to come in and browse the items without any pressure to buy, so we invited people to come in today,” Mohammed explained.
